Carol Yip, a Certified Financial Coach and Keynote Public Speaker is constantly driven by her passion to share with people the paramount importance of managing one's money well to achieve financial freedom.
Carol Yip is the CEO and Founder of Abacus for Money, an organization that provides personal financial coaching to help people understand their relationship with money.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics (honours) from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and a Master's degree in Business Administration (Major in Finance with Distinction) from the University of Hull, United Kingdom and also a Certificate of Financial Coaching (CFC) certified by the International Professional Managers Association of United Kingdom, a Certificate of Financial Planning (CFP) from the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia and Registered Financial Planner (RFP) from Malaysian Financial Planning Council.
She is the President of Monash Alumni, Malaysia and she sits on the board of Monash Alumni Advisory Group of Monash University, Australia.
Carol is pursuing her Masters in Counseling with HELP University College, Malaysia, with intention of specializing in financial counseling as qualified Financial Counselor. This is because Carol has a mission of helping people to unleash their life from financial distress, and live a meaningful and peaceful life instead.
While working in the financial field, Carol soon realised that not everyone is born with a natural talent to manage their money well. She found that a majority of people were unable to do practical planning, and taking action for their personal finances, and needed help to learn the necessary skills to be smart money-user and achieving their easily-understood tools and techniques.
Carol Yip understands the financial psychology of human behaviour. This is why she has created unique keynote presentations, money skills workshops, seminar, professional financial coaching programmes and corporate training that are specially designed to allow for one's self-discovery.
Because Carol has a personal vision to promote financial literacy in all levels of society by educating them on the necessity of understanding their behaviour and how it affects their money, she founded The Abacus Academy.
The Abacus Academy teaches personal financial management education workshops and training programs to students, adults, married couples and family using simple and easily-understood tools and techniques and combines the psychological elements of human behaviour and financial literature, termed as Behavioural Finance, making the learning a unique feature for the person.
Carol Yip is currently engaged in the education project driven by Central Bank of Malaysia Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency to educate people about their finances. The education program is approved by the Ministry of Higher. The personal financial education program covers good behaviour and habits towards money, finance and debt management skills, and how to identify personal financial path, among others.
